Homeage to ghandhiji

“De di hamen azadi bina khadag bina dhal,
Sabarmati ke sant tune kar diya kamal.”

Mahatma Gandhi, the most famous person of the 20th century had so many facets: the leader of Indian National Liberation, the international human being, social reformer, the greatest visionary and so on….

His whole life is an inspirational source for the people of the world. He is a real revolutionary of the century, who gave the weapon of ‘Satyagrah’ to the people of India. His Satyagrah struggle became very popular and is being followed even today.

Gandhiji strongly believed in Truth, Non-violence and simplicity. He was a courageous seeker of truth. According to Gandhiji, “There is no God higher than the Truth.” He believed, non-violence is the only weapon to remove violence from the society and the nation. He led his life in a simple way.

This year on 2nd October, 2017 148th birth anniversary of the greatest legendary Mahatma Gandhiji was celebrated. It was Gandhiji’s dream ‘Clean India’. Hence the ‘clean India’ campaign has been started by our Honourable Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on 2nd October, 2014. India is going to celebrate 150 years of Gandhi Jayani on 2nd October. 2019. The GEMS celebrated the whole week as Homage to Gandhiji to instill Gandhiji’s thoughts values and principles in students mind.

Various activities were conducted by the teachers and students of the GEMS. Students from higher classes narrated stories and Gandhiji’s biography to the students of lower classes. Students understood the importance of Gandhiji’s thoughts, values and princioles. Students participated in this activity with great enthusiasm.

The students prepared charts focusing slogans on Truth, Nonviolence and simplicity. Students prepared charts with great interests. Gandhiji has left a legacy of Truth, Nonviolence and simplicity which we should follow.

Another important aspect of Gandhiji’s life is his contribution in spiritual field. He had a great faith in God. He changed the saying “God is Truth” to “Truth is God.”  As a part of the celebration the students were shown the movie ‘Gandhi’ in the school in order that the students could learn more about the greatest legendary, Mahatma Gandhi and his values and would try to inculcate the values in their life.

Quiz contest on Gandhiji’s life, work and his struggle to get freedom was organized by the teachers of the Guzder English Medium School for the students as a part of the celebration. Teachers prepared questions on Gandhiji. Students gave excellent response in Quiz Contest.

Students of Pre-Primary Section had also participated in the celebration. Drawing activity was arranged for the smaller students. They enjoyed drawing activity a lot.

Gandhiji was moved by the condition of the poor people of our country. He resolved to wear Khadi cloth spun in his Charkha. The whole staff of GEMS dressed up in Khadi clothes on 2nd October, 2017 to give respect and to value Gandhiji’s thoughts and his maxims.

We are fortunate to have such a great soul among us who have taught us how to live a better lie. Let us follow Gandhiji’s principles and try to make a better life for ourselves and for others in society.
